Yarra Valley Chocolaterie Tour: 450+ Chocolates, Free Tastings and a 40-Acre Wander

Yarra Valley Chocolaterie tour: it's the stop where the wine breaks and the chocolate takes over, and honestly, nobody on the bus is complaining. Forty acres of orchard, wetlands, farm animals and lawns, over 450 varieties of handcrafted chocolate, and tastings that don't cost you a cent. Hop off on the Green Route and let your group scatter as someone's heading for the ice creamery, someone's glued to the chocolatier windows and best of all everyone's happy.

What's Actually Going On Inside

The big drawcard is the viewing windows, where you can watch the chocolatiers doing their thing in real time such as tempering, shaping, whatever chocolate wizardry is on the go that day. From there it's a wander through 450+ varieties, with free tastings along the way, so you can actually try before you commit to a bag (or three). Need something cold too? The ice creamery's right there. It's not really a wine tour at all at this stop but more a full detour into everything that isn't wine, which is kind of the beauty of this stop.

Yarra Valley Chocolaterie Tour: No Booking Required, Green Route All the Way

Here's the best bit for planning purposes: no booking required. Open daily, so you can hop off whenever it suits your itinerary and just walk in. It sits on the Green Route, so pair it with a couple of Green Route wineries either side and you've got a day that swings between cellar doors and chocolate windows without much effort. There's a lunch option on-site too, if you want to sit down and make a proper stop of it.

Why It's Worth the Detour

The 40 acres do a lot of work here. The orchard, wetlands, farm animals leave room to actually stretch your legs between tastings. It's the kind of stop that works whether you've got a non-drinker in the group, or just someone who'd rather smell chocolate than swirl pinot for twenty minutes.

Hop. Stop. Taste. Repeat.
